Don’t settle for the illusion of fulfillment.  Don’t settle for the temporary ego boost of making a sale, earning a title, or trying to please someone you don’t genuinely respect and admire when you know that deep down, when you’re by yourself and take time to reflect on your life, you still feel empty and unfulfilled.  You deserve better than this.

You deserve to be fulfilled.  If it takes you a decade or more to get there, so be it.  The time will pass anyway, so invest it wisely.  There’s no limit on how many tries you get.  Just know that in your heart of hearts, you really want that 9 or 10, and no matter how much you try to deny it, the desire for creative self-expression still burns within you, and you will never be truly and deeply fulfilled until you have an effective outlet for it.

Typical conversation with my roommate via text.

Me: If I can’t even get hired at Trader Joes I am a complete life failure and it’s all because you didn’t prepare me for my on the spot interview.

Me: And I am throwing everything from Trader Joes in the house away.

Me: Including your Trader Joes paper bags, they will be burned in the backyard.

Me: While Black Sabbath is blasting, scaring all of the neighbors.

Me: Elvis (her dog) will be dressed in a black robe helping poor gasoline on the fire while howling at the moon.

Me: And then we (Elvis and I) will drive up to Trader Joes and throw Molotov Cocktails on the roof.

Me: Then after, we will flee to Mexico , but only after dropping off all the money we stole out of the registers at Trader Joes in the garage, so don’t tell anyone…you will be rich and never have to work.

Me: Then Elvis will drive back up solo a month later because he will miss you, and then you guys will live happily.

Her: HAHAHAHAHA
